Ask Allah for help through the Prophet Alimedet ya Ali, medet ya Hızır! [din.]
angelmelek (mılaket) [din.] [Ar. malak → İbr. məlāk] (2)
Animal god who does evil to animals, mythological figure.

This describes the principle of nature's justice, which is not only merciful (Xızır) but also relentless when its boundaries are transgressed.

The punishment of petrification: In some legends, he is described as someone who beats or even turns animals into stone if they disrupt the order or are disobedient. While Xızır usually appears as a merciful savior (the personification of goodness), Memık Gavan often takes on the role of an enforcer or a stern guardian. In certain local narratives, Memık Gavan is not depicted as a gentle saint, but as a harsh, even cruel ruler or master over the animals.

Whoever breaks the rules of nature (the order of the herd) is severely punished by the 'Shepherd of Khidr' (Gavanê Xızıri). In Dersim, there are numerous places where the legend of petrification—often caused by the wrath of a saint or a shepherd like Memık Gavan—is said to be visible:

- Düzgün Baba (Qelê Dewreş): Animals are said to have turned to stone here when the divine truth was revealed. There are rock formations that look like a sitting herd.
- Havar Bridge / Pülümür: In the Pülümür region, there are rocks interpreted as a 'petrified herd.' It is said that a shepherd challenged God or the laws of nature there, whereupon the entire herd turned to stone.
- Ovacık – Munzur Springs: Near the sources of the Munzur River, there are stories of shepherds whose animals were punished by the power of saints like Memık Gavan for disobedience or ritual errors.
Mount Jêle: On Mount Jêle, there are also bizarre rock formations that are considered in oral tradition to be petrified witnesses to the wrath of divine shepherds.
