Prophet, saint Khidr (Khizir), who comes to help in narrow time. Alevis believe that the holy brothers Hızır and Ilyas lived as prophets and drank the "water of immortality" (Abu Hayat/Abu Kevser) to help people, especially travelers (in this context also the Travelers on the mystical path). According to this belief, Hızır comes to help on land, and Ilyas on the sea. According to tradition, both help people who are in need and call for help "with all their hearts". They bring happiness and prosperity to people.
In the case of Alevis, the Khidr fast takes place on different days every January/February.
There are innumerable myths and legends about Khidr. Rivers, water sources, mountains, stones, bridges and counties have been named after his names.
