After stints with the Düsseldorfer EG and the Kassel Huskies, Chris Rogles joined the Kölner Haie in 2001. He backstopped the team to the DEL Championship, posting a league-leading .935-save-percentage in the playoffs. The former Nashville Knight and Knoxville Cherokee (ECHL) has continued his hot netminding in the current season, ranking second in the league with a save percentage of .931 in 43 starts and being tied for the league lead with 5 shutouts.

6' 1" (185 cm), 205 lbs (93 kg)
After backstopping the IHL's Chicago Wolves to the Turner Cup in 2000, Trefilov made his DEL debut with the DEG in 2000-01. A pupil of Russian goaltending legend Vladislav Tretjak, he was an Olympic gold medallist with Russia in 1992. The Moscow-native, who also appeared in a total of 55 NHL games for Buffalo, Chicago and Calgary, makes his second DEL All-Star appearance after 2000.

6' 1" (185 cm), 181 lbs (82 kg)
Waite, who shared netminding duties with Ed Belfour and Dominic Hasek for the Chicago Black Hawks 1990-92 and appeared in a total of 112 NHL games for Chicago, San Jose and Phoenix, made his DEL debut with the Essen Moskitos last season. He was one of few bright spots on a struggling team. His arrival in Iserlohn has sparked the Roosters big-time. Behind Waite's hot goaltending, the team has turned into a surprise playoff contender. He is the only netminder in the league who has started every game for his team so far, posting a .908 save percentage and four shutouts in 43 starts.
# 6, Andy Roach
Defenseman, Adler Mannheim

5' 11" (181 cm), 185 lbs (84 kg)
The Ferris State product is one of the best offensive defenseman in the league. He made his DEL debut with the Krefeld Pinguine in 1999 and won the DEL championship with Mannheim in 2001.
# 70, Tommy Jakobsen

After six seasons as one of the cornerstones of the Augsburger Panther defense, Tommy Jakobsen joined fellow Norwegians Tore Vikingstad and Trond Magnussen in Düsseldorf. The transfer not only sent him to a championship contender. His personal numbers are also up from last season. So far Jakobsen has tallied 25 points in 43 games.

The offensive-minded defenseman is in his 8th season in the DEL. After stints in Mannheim and Nuremberg, Stanton joined the Frankfurt Lions for the 2002/03 season, a move that re-united him with former Adler head coach Lance Nethery. The University of Wisconsin product appeared in a total of 339 NHL games with Pittsburgh, Boston and the New York Islanders. A two-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the early 90's and three-time DEL Champion with the Mannheim Adler, Stanton still ranks among the league's top-scoring defensemen, currently 7th in the league with 30 points in 41 games.
# 54, Andrew Schneider
Defenseman, Hamburg Freezers
Born March 29, 1973, Edmonton, Alberta (Canada)
5' 11" (180 cm), 176 lbs (80 kg)
The captain of the Hamburg Freezers, who was selected his second straight All-Star Game, is regarded as one of the best two-way players in the DEL. A natural forward, injuries forced Schneider to help out on defense during his two-year stint with the Munich Barons. In Hamburg, he usually plays the center position. He currently ranks 8th in the league in scoring with 40 points (15 goals, 25 assists) in 41 games. His coach Sean Simpson called him "the most underrated player in the league".
# 7, Jeff Tory

5' 11" (180 cm), 194 lbs (88 kg)
After setting a single-season rookie point-scoring record with the Houston Aeros (IHL) in 1997/98 (38 points), Jeff Tory established himself as a top offensive defenseman in the minors. He also had a stellar first year in the DEL, scoring 41 points in 66 games with the Kassel Huskies. Tory makes his second straight DEL All-Star Game appearance. He currently leads the league's defenseman in scoring with 38 points in 41 games and only 22 penalty minutes.
# 37, Shawn Anderson

6' 1" (186 cm), 209 lbs (95 kg)
Veteran defender Shawn Anderson played 274 NHL games for Buffalo, Quebec, Washington and Philadelphia between 1986 and 1995 before starting out his European career with the DEL's Wedemark Scorpions in 1996-97. Considered one of the top offensive defensemen in the league, he struggled in his first season in Nuremberg under head coach Bob Murdoch. His offensive production has improved under new coach Mike Schmidt, but Anderson is also having a great year defensively, currently at +17 in the plus/minus-department.
# 29, Brad Schlegel

5' 10" (178 cm), 187 lbs (85 kg)
Schlegel, who played in a total of 55 NHL games for Washington and Calgary, made his DEL debut with the Hannover Scorpions in 1995-96. After a couple of seasons with Villach of the Austrian League, the Ontario-native returned to the DEL with the Schwenninger Wild Wings in 2000-01. He failed to put up big numbers in his first season in Cologne, but under new head coach Hans Zach, Schlegel is on pace to a career season, having tallied 8 goals and 24 assists in 40 games. Due to an injury, Schlegel will not play in the All-Star Game. His replacement is Justin Harney of the Iserlohn Roosters.

6' 0" (184 cm), 187 lbs (85 kg)
Only signed to a trial contract initially, the young defenseman has turned into one of the backbones of Iserlohn's impressive run this season. His coach Greg Poss is full of praise for the DEL rookie: "Justin is very mobile and has sound offensive instincts. He plays with poise and has convincing technical skills." Harney was nominated for the DEL All-Star Game as a replacement for injured Brad Schlegel (Kölner Haie).
# 16, Philippe Audet

6' 1" (185 cm), 198 lbs (90 kg)
After four seasons in the AHL and 4 NHL games for the Detroit Red Wings in 1998/99, the former Granby Bison started his European career with AIK Stockholm of the Swedish Elitserien in 2001. In his first season in the German DEL, Audet is one of the-leading scorers for the Augsburger Panther.
# 73, Trond Magnussen

5' 9" (176 cm), 187 lbs (85 kg)
The long-time captain of the Norwegian national team turned into an instant success in his DEL rookie season last year, finishing as Düsseldorf's top scorer with 53 points in 60 games. With fellow Norwegian Trond Magnussen at center, the speedy winger forms one of the DEL's most powerful offensive duos.
# 46, Jean-Francois Jomphe

6' 1" (185 cm), 88 kg (194 lbs)
After sitting out all of last season, "JFJ" returned to the DEL with expansion team ERC Ingolstadt this season. He currently leads the team in scoring with 35 points in 38 games. After playing in 111 NHL games for Anaheim, Phoenix and Montreal in the late 90's, Jomphe started his DEL career with the Krefeld Pinguine in 1999/2000 and won the championship with the Mannheim Adler a year later. He makes his second All-Star appearance after 2000.
# 21, Kelly Fairchild

5' 11" (181 cm), 198 lbs (90 kg)
The center currently leads the DEL in scoring, with 17 goals and 30 assists in 42 games. Fairchild, who also appeared in 34 NHL games with Toronto, Dallas and Colorado, was a team-leading scorer several times during his pro career. The Minnesota-native led the Hershey Bears in points last season. He also was the top scorer for the Michigan K-Wings in their final season in the IHL in 1999/2000 and for the AHL's St. John's Baby Leafs in 1995/96.
# 25, Wally Schreiber, Captain

The 40-year-old was the oldest player in the league until 41-year-old Mike Bullard made his DEL return with the Schwenninger Wild Wings on January 31, 2003. Almost two decades ago, Schreiber was the top scorer in the International Hockey League (IHL, Fort Wayne Comets, 1984). He also appeared in 44 NHL games for the Minnesota North Stars in the late 80's. An Olympic Silver medallist with Team Canada in 1992 and 1994, he won the German Championship with EC Hedos München in 1994. On New Year's Eve 2002, Schreiber became the first player in DEL history to crack the 500-game mark. In the DEL all-time scorer list, he ranks second to Bullard.
# 18, Doug Ast

5' 10" (178 cm), 176 lbs (80 kg)
After stints with the Syracuse Crunch (AHL), Long Beach Ice Dogs and Manitoba Moose (both IHL), the Canadian made his DEL debut last season. A two-way forward and productive scorer, Ast emerged as a key player for the Iserlohn Roosters. He currently leads the team in scoring with 13 goals and 19 assists.
# 26, Zdenek Nedved

5' 11" (182 cm), 194 lbs (88 kg)
The Czech winger, who appeared in 31 NHL games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the mid-90's, is in his first season in the DEL with the Kassel Huskies. Coming off a stint with Finnish HPK Hämeelinna, Nedved has turned into a big contributor for the Huskies. Due to groin problems, he won't play in the All-Star Game, though.
# 71, Dave McLlwain

6' 0" (183 cm), 187 lbs (85 kg)
After a decade in the NHL and a total of 521 games for Pittsburgh, Winnipeg, Buffalo, the New York Islanders, Toronto and Ottawa, Dave McLlwain started out his DEL career with the Landshut Cannibals in 1997. He was sidelined with a major knee injury and helping out as an assistant to head coach Rich Chernomaz when the Kölner Haie won the championship last season. He has bounced back very well, though, having tallied 36 points so far this season, which ties him for the team lead with fellow All-Star Dwayne Norris.

5' 9" (176 cm), 176 lbs (80 kg)
The Canadian, who won an Olympic silver medal with Team Canada in 1994, is in his 7th season with the Kölner Haie. He was one of the key players in Cologne's stunning championship run last season. Norris is having another good year this season, currently being tied for the team lead in scoring at 36 points with fellow All-Star Dave McLlwain.
# 10, Christoph Brandner

6' 4" (195 cm), 220 lbs (100 kg)
Austrian winger Christoph Brandner not only impresses with his size, but also with constant productiveness. His scoring instincts did not go unrecognised by NHL scouts. In 2002, Brandner was selected in the 8th round of the NHL Entry Draft (237th overall) by the Minnesota Wild. After ranking sixth in the DEL in points scored last season with 55 points in 50 games, Brandner is also one of the hottest scorers in 2002-03, currently being the league's best goal scorer with 25 tallies.
# 20, Brad Purdie

5' 11" (182 cm), 192 lbs (87 kg)
Purdie forms one of the hottest lines in the league with Czech Patrik Augusta and fellow All-Star Christoph Brandner. After ranking second in the DEL in scoring in his first season with Krefeld, he led the league with 75 points in 60 games last year. Coming off a career year, Purdie currently ranks second in the league in scoring with 46 points.
# 15, Francois Fortier

5' 11" (181 cm), 209 lbs (95 kg)
Francois Fortier is the youngest player on the DEL All-Stars. Fortier, who made his pro debut with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack as a 19-year-old and was the fourth-best scorer in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) last season with 71 points in 91 games for the Mississippi Sea Wolves, leads the struggling Schwenninger Wild Wings in all scoring categories.
# 27, Terry Yake

5'11" (180 cm), 187 lbs (85 kg)
After 435 NHL games for Hartford, Anaheim, Toronto, St. Louis and Washington, the centerman made his DEL debut with the Essen Moskitos in 2001/02. He was one of few bright spots on a struggling team, tallying a team-leading 49 points in 51 games. This season, he has been a powerhouse for Nuremberg, scoring a team-leading 39 points in 41 games and being one of the main reasons the injury-troubled team is still in contention for home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Pierre Pagé

Canadian Pierre Pagé assumed head coaching duties at mid-season for the Berlin Eisbären in January 2002. He led the team to their first playoff appearance after a two-year absence. During the off-season, Pagé turned the team into a championship contender. The Eisbären have dominated the season so far and seem to be in position to secure the top seed for the playoffs. Prior to his stint in Europe, Pagé spent eight years as a head coach in the NHL with Minnesota, Calgary, Anaheim and the Quebec Nordiques, for which he also worked as a general manager in the early 90's. In the latter position he was instrumental in building the squad that won the Stanley Cup after relocating to Colorado in 1995.
