Munich, Germany - Andy Schneider and Johan Rosen each scored two goals as the Munich Barons capped an amazing late rally with a 4-2 road win at the last-place Essen Moskitos. Schneider tallied a total of four points as he assisted on both of Rosen’s goals. Rosen picked up one assist.

The game was the second encounter of the two teams within 48 hours. Like in Friday’s 2-3 road loss (after shootout), the Moskitos jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period.

Todd Simon got Essen on the scoreboard 13:29 into the campaign in a 4-on-4 situation.

Munich then failed to convert on an 88-second two-man advantage early in the second period. It came back to haunt them immediately when Terry Yake put the hosts ahead 2-0 just 15 seconds later.

But netminder Boris Rousson kept Munich in the game and Johan Rosen’s score midway through the period gave the Barons some life, cutting Essen’s lead in half at 2-1.

Late rally sparked by Schneider

The Barons needed a late rally sparked by Schneider, though, to eventually turn the momentum within the final 150 seconds.

Trailing 1-2 Andy Schneider tied the game on a solo effort.

Totally stunned by the late equalizer, Essen conceded another goal. Only 54 ticks later, Schneider teamed up with Rosen to give the Barons their first lead of the game, 3-2.

With 30 seconds remaining, Schneider capped the scoring at 4-2 with an empty-netter.

Yet again: No depth on defense

The Barons are once again facing a lack of depth on defense: Greg Johnston will be suspended for Friday’s home game against Cologne. He received a game misconduct after getting into fisticuffs with Essen’s Marc Hussey at the end of the first period.

Eddie Uvira is questionable after suffering a thigh bruise. Mike Smazal will likely be missing over a month after breaking his hand on Sunday. Kent Fearns (torn tendon, adductors) is still rehabbing.
