Konstantin Firsanov brought the Panthers within a goal midway through the final stanza, 3-2. With an extra attacker on, Scott King tied up the contest at 3-3 with 53 ticks left. With Ingolstadt in a state of shock, Augsburg kept coming and was rewarded with the lucky game-winner.

Hanover's Christian Künast, who replaced starting goalie Trevor Kidd between the pipes after forty minutes, made 12 saves for a third-period shutout. Kidd, who got the win, made 18 saves while allowing three scores.
