Munich, Germany - Canadian Bob Leslie, who parted ways with the Krefeld Pinguine after barely missing the playoffs Monday, will head coach expansion team Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in the DEL relegation series against the Kassel Huskies.

Wolfsburg had axed long-time coach Stefan Mikes after a last-gasp loss against Leslie's Penguins in Sunday's regular season finale. Mikes, a native of Slovakia, was in his 7th year as head coach of the Grizzlies.

55-year-old Bob Leslie took over the Krefeld Pinguine from Mario Simioni last October. The team appeared to be playoff-bound after posting a five-game win streak in early March, but a lackluster home loss to the DEG Metro Stars in the next-to-last game of the regular season cost them the inside track to a playoff berth. A last-minute win over Wolfsburg in the regular season finale was not enough to qualify for postseason action.

In other DEL coaching news, the DEG Metro Stars announced the release of Butch Goring as both sides failed to work out a new deal for the upcoming campaign.
