Milan Mokros, who has coached the last-place Kassel Huskies on an interim basis since the departure of Canadian Mike McParland, will serve as a head coach for the remainder of the season. The 46-year-old native of Karvina, Czechoslovakia played for the Huskies from 1994 to 1997 and has since been working in the organisation as an assistant and juniors coach. The Huskies went 0-3 in the first three games under Mokros, including a regulation tie.
Dave McLlwain's goal with 5:17 remaining in the second period went down as the game-winner as the
Kölner Haie held on for a close 2-1 (1-1, 1-0, 0-0) home win over expansion team
Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg. McLlwain surprised Wolves netminder Marek Mastic with a shot right off the face-off. He also recorded an assist on Stephane Julien's go-ahead goal on the game's first power-play 6:22 into the contest. Wolfsburg had temporarily tied the game on a power-play tally by Jan Zurek midway through the middle frame. The Haie have won four of their last five games.
Mike York (1G, 2A) and Martin Knold (3A) each had three points on the night as the
Iserlohn Roosters jumped out to a 5-2 lead and held on for a 6-3 (3-1, 2-1, 1-1) road victory over the
Hannover Scorpions, snapping a nine-game winless streak on the road. York recorded the game-winner, ripping a slapshot past Christian Künast to make it 4-2 with 2:35 remaining in the second. His buddy Bryan Adams tallied just 43 seconds later to put the game out of reach at 5-2 at the second intermission.
