Q: Thomas, the San Jose Sharks selected you in the 3rd round of the NHL Entry Draft in Raleigh, N.C., this weekend. How did you follow the draft?
A: I don't have access to the internet at the moment. I learned it from my mother who got a call from my agent.
Q: Were you nervous?
A: I actually wasn't too nervous. But the draft was on my mind all weekend.
Q: Were you surprised that you were picked that early on, 94th overall?
A: Absolutely. I did not expect to be picked before round 7. I'm very happy, of course. And I think it's somewhat of an appreciation of my efforts.
Q: You actually missed a live television appearance on ESPN and TSN...
A: Yes, the players picked in the first three rounds are presented on the podium with a team jersey and cap, and it's being broadcast all over North America. It would have definitely been a great experience. But I never expected to be selected that early.
Q: What are your feelings about being picked?
A:I think it's a motivation to work even harder in the future. Each hockey player dreams about playing in the NHL one day. But you never know if it's gonna work out.
Q: What are your plans for the near future? Will you be heading across the pond this summer to participate in a camp?
A: I don't have any particular plans at the moment. I plan to play the upcoming season in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) with the Kölner Haie. We'll see what the future brings.
