Vasiljevs' hapless stint ends in KrefeldBill Stewart, who parted ways with the Mannheim Adler two weeks ago, made a quick comeback to the DEL coaching ranks when he was hired by the slumping Krefeld Pinguine Saturday. The 46-year-old Toronto native replaces Latvian Haralds Vasiljevs, who will resume working as a junior coach in the Penguins organisation.
His hapless tenure lasted only 6 weeks. Krefeld was 2-9 under Vasiljevs and is in danger of ending up in the relegation round.
McParland takes over in KasselCanadian Mike McParland was signed through the end of the season. The 45-year-old has been coaching in Switzerland for 15 years and was part of Team Canada’s coaching staff at several international tournaments. His stints in the Swiss National-Liga included Chur, Langnau, Lyss, Herisau, Thurgau and Lausanne.
Kammerer and assistant coach Rupert Meister were fired by Kassel on Monday. The German coaching duo led the Huskies to a 19-23 record. With 10 games to go in the regular season, they are virtually eliminated from playoff contention.
