Munich, Germany - ERC Ingolstadt added another veteran to its roster Monday by picking up defenseman Yves Racine from the Mannheim Adler. Used as scapegoats for the team’s recent slump, Racine and teammate Stefan Ustorf were released by Mannheim three weeks ago.

Racine is ironically scheduled to make his debut with Ingolstadt when his former team Mannheim comes to town Tuesday night.

After 10 seasons in the NHL with Detroit, Philadelphia, Montreal, San Jose, Calgary and Tampa Bay and a one-year stint with Jokerit Helsinki in the Finnish Elite League, Racine joined Mannheim in 1999. The Matane, Quebec-native won the DEL championship in 2000-01. In 237 DEL games for the Adler, Racine tallied 20 goals, 117 assists and 555 penalty minutes.

Before being suspended in late October, Racine had notched 2 goals and 3 assists in 15 games for the Adler this season.

Ustorf still undecided

Stefan Ustorf is still unsigned. The captain of the German national team is expected to sign with one of the big-money teams, Berlin, Hamburg or Cologne.
