The 19-year-old, who was selected with the 92nd overall pick by the Nashville Predators in this year's NHL entry draft, got mugged in downtown Düsseldorf at about 1 a.m. Monday morning. Sulzer was beaten up and robbed. No suspect has been identified so far.
Sulzer was obviously hit in the head and the face with a blunt object. According to doctors, he was knocked unconscious for about two hours. He suffered a hematoma near his right eye and an almost two-inch laceration above his right eyebrow which had to be treated with several stitches. In addtion tot hat, Sulzer has contusions on his neck, elbows and hands.
Sulzer, who is in his second season in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), is listed as questionable for this weekend's games.
