However not enough to knock the Kölner Haie from the top of the table. Rich Chernomaz’s return to Cologne brought back sweet memories to the Kölner Haie faithful. Less than eight months ago, the interim coach turned around a seemingly forgettable season and led the Haie all the way to the DEL championship. Christmas Day was a not a day of giving in Nuremberg, where the Ice Tigers thrashed the troubled Mannheim Adler Wednesday afternoon on gameday 32 in the DEL. Expansion team ERC Ingolstadt had the league-leading Berlin Eisbären in the ropes, but yet again failed to deliver the knock-out punch.
